There was already much hype many months before this years Thailand Open 2007 started that got everybody really excited. This years Thailand Open was supposed to field the best ever players in the tournaments 5 year history. After all, this was the 2nd year running that Roger Federer has decided not to come down to the far east. The year before still had some big names like Marat Safin , James Blake , Tim Henman , Ivan Ljubicic and of course local Thai hero Paradorn Srichaphan . Thailand Open 2007 promised to be big right from the start. World No. 3 Novak Djokovic and former world No. 1 Andy Roddick were among Tuesday's second-round winners at the $2.9 million Paris Masters -- the ninth and final Masters Series event of the year.

The Australian Open champion Djokovic was leading Dmitry Tursunov 6-2, 4-3 when the Russian retired with a right shoulder injury, while seventh-seeded Roddick rolled past Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-4. Roddick swatted 13 aces at the lefthanded Lopez, who was unable to break the American.

The biggest losers at the Rome Masters on Saturday were the fans. One after the other, Andy Roddick and Radek Stepanek quit shortly after their semifinal matches began.
